In Tuguegarao City, three men were arrested on June 5 during a police operation targeting crude oil theft in Barangay Libag Norte. The suspects were identified through closed-circuit television (CCTV) monitoring, which revealed a white commuter van linked to previous thefts. Police observed one suspect scaling a fence at the target facility, prompting a swift response from officers and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. The suspects, residents of Tabuk City in Kalinga, had their identities withheld for privacy reasons. During the operation, authorities seized two improvised .22 caliber rifles, ammunition, five sachets of suspected methamphetamine, two mobile phones, 11 empty plastic containers, two hoses, and a license plate believed to be used in the theft. They are now facing charges of attempted theft, violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. Investigations are ongoing to uncover any additional individuals involved in the operation.
