Tensions escalated in the Motahaldu area of Haldwani, Nainital district, Uttarakhand, as hundreds of workers from a private company protested over wage demands and alleged harassment on Monday. The workers are calling for a minimum wage of ₹20,000 and a fixed eight-hour work shift, claiming they are forced to work overtime without proper compensation. Female employees reported inhumane treatment, including restrictions on basic needs and abusive language from management. The protest led to a scuffle between police and some youth leaders supporting the workers, resulting in police using mild force to restore order. Local MLA Mohan Singh Bisht intervened, urging company management to consider the workers' demands and promising to escalate the issue to the chief minister. As of now, discussions between the parties are ongoing, but no agreement has been reached.
