V D Satheesan, recently designated as Kerala's Chief Minister, has pledged to adopt a frugal lifestyle in office, emphasizing the need for leaders to reflect the state's financial realities. He announced that he would use the existing official vehicle, stating, "I am not bothered about its colour," and insisted on maintaining a minimal convoy to avoid public inconvenience. Satheesan highlighted the importance of setting a positive example against extravagance, suggesting that leaders who display opulence encourage similar behavior among others. His remarks come in light of Kerala's challenging financial situation, where he believes that reducing excess is essential. In his initial meetings, he expressed support for Ramesh Chennithala, a senior Congress leader who was a contender for the CM position. The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), which recently won the Assembly elections, is currently discussing the composition of the new Cabinet, with final decisions expected soon. Satheesan and his Cabinet are set to be sworn in on Monday, following a significant electoral victory over the incumbent Left Democratic Front.
