The North Face, a well-known outdoor clothing and gear retailer, is closing its only store in the Kansas City area located at 5004 W 119th St. in Town Center Plaza, Leawood, Kansas, today at 7 p.m. This location, which opened in late 2023, was the last North Face store in the Kansas City area following the closure of another store at The Plaza a couple of years ago. The North Face was founded in 1966 by Doug Tompkins and has grown to over 130 locations across the United States. Despite the closure, there is no ongoing sale for the remaining inventory, and employees were unable to provide a reason for the store's closure.
