The incident took place on the fourth ball of the 10th over when Pandya, frustrated with his performance, forcefully knocked the bails off the stumps. This action was deemed a breach of Article 2.2, which addresses the abuse of cricket equipment or fixtures during a match. Pandya admitted to the offense and accepted the penalty imposed by match referee Rajiv Seth. Accumulating four to seven demerit points could lead to a one-match suspension in the IPL. Unfortunately for the Mumbai Indians, they have already been eliminated from playoff contention, having won only four out of their matches this season. They are set to play their final game against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday, marking the end of a disappointing campaign for the five-time champions.
