Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has rejected the notion that India's manufacturing is limited to 'screwdriver technology,' highlighting the country's strides in precision manufacturing, particularly in electronics. He noted that India has transitioned from assembly to producing complex components, showcasing a steel block made from multiple hidden pieces as evidence of this precision. The electronics sector has emerged as India's third-largest export category, generating 2.5 million jobs and significantly increasing women's workforce participation. Last year, India exported components worth ₹35,000 crore to China, and the government is set to establish 250 new component manufacturing factories in the next few years. The Production Linked Incentive Scheme has drawn investments exceeding ₹13,475 crore, further boosting production from ₹1.9 lakh crore in 2014-15 to an expected ₹11.3 lakh crore in 2024-25. Mobile manufacturing has also flourished, with units rising from 2 to approximately 300, indicating a robust growth trajectory in the 'Make in India' initiative.
