Vodafone Idea's stock surged 7.23% to ₹12.75 as reports emerged of a potential capital infusion led by chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla. This infusion aims to strengthen lender and investor confidence amidst the company's ongoing fundraising efforts for network expansion and operational needs. Following a significant reduction in its adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues to ₹64,046 crore from a previously frozen amount of ₹87,695 crore, market participants view Birla's return as a positive sign for ongoing lender negotiations. The telecom operator is estimated to require nearly ₹95,000 crore to meet its capital expenditure, spectrum liabilities, and bank debt obligations. The board is set to meet on 16 May 2026 to discuss its financial results and a proposal for preferential fund raising. Vodafone Idea is India's third-largest telecom operator, providing services under the Vi brand and expanding its 5G offerings across key markets.
