Residents of Sector 47 in Gurugram, Haryana, India, are voicing their concerns over chronic civic issues that are tarnishing the area's reputation as a prime residential hub. Despite its central location and access to amenities, residents are troubled by deteriorating roads, illegal garbage dumping, faulty streetlights, and recurring waterlogging. A nearly 10-acre plot owned by the Haryana Shehari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) has become an unauthorized dumping ground, prompting environmental and public health concerns. Residents have reported that illegal dumping has persisted for years, despite complaints to authorities. They have also highlighted poor road conditions, especially around the IKEA construction site and DPS school, which pose safety risks due to open manholes and damaged pathways. Additionally, residents expressed frustration over the inadequate sanitation services, with only half of the required sanitation workers showing up for duty. The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) acknowledged these issues and is working on proposals to improve sanitation and road conditions. However, residents are calling for immediate action to enhance their living conditions and ensure accountability from civic authorities.
