A blackout mock drill is set to take place in Anantnag and Ganderbal districts of Jammu and Kashmir on April 23, 2023. The exercise, organized by local authorities, will occur in two phases: a civil defence air raid blackout mock exercise at 3:30 PM and a blackout exercise from 8 PM to 8:15 PM. The goal is to prepare citizens for emergency situations by familiarizing them with response protocols and evaluating the readiness of both the public and administration. Residents are advised to follow instructions, including turning off all lights and ensuring safe routes for elderly citizens and children. This initiative follows a directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs, which has also scheduled similar drills in Punjab for April 24, 2023. These drills are part of a nationwide effort to enhance emergency preparedness, including firefighting operations and medical assistance. Last year's drills were conducted in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, marking a year since the incident.
