The upcoming film 'Cocktail 2', featuring Shahid Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Kriti Sanon, has stirred controversy due to allegations of plagiarism regarding its song 'Mashooqa'. The track has drawn comparisons to the 1993 Italian song 'Se So Arrubate A Nonna', prompting discussions about its originality. In response, singer Raghav Chaitanya, who performed the song, defended music composer Pritam Chakraborty, calling the plagiarism claims 'completely baseless'. Chaitanya expressed the importance of addressing the speculation directly, stating that 'Mashooqa' is an original composition. He explained that while certain melodic movements might evoke familiarity, they do not equate to copying. Chaitanya further clarified that labeling the song as inspired by another track is inaccurate, as its composition and emotional treatment are unique. He encouraged audiences to listen to the entire song before forming judgments based on partial impressions circulating online. Chaitanya concluded his defense by urging for positivity in the music community, recognizing Pritam's long-standing contributions to Indian music. 'Cocktail 2' is set to release in theaters on June 19.
