Pebble Ranch Senior Living hosted its inaugural volleyball tournament on Wednesday, inviting senior teams from across the East Valley to participate, regardless of mobility limitations. The event, dubbed the 'first annual Pebble Ranch volleyball massacre' by resident Ron Stuewe, aimed to promote inclusivity, allowing participants in walkers and wheelchairs to join in the fun. Briana Watson, the executive director, noted that the tournament was designed to enhance overall health and wellness through social interaction. Many attendees, like Stuewe, relished the opportunity to meet fellow residents and connect with others from different communities. While one team won a trophy, the emphasis was on enjoyment and companionship rather than competition. Fellow resident Arvella Merrill remarked on the therapeutic value of socializing, encapsulating the day's spirit by stating, 'When you're in this position, it's a good place to be.' The tournament not only fostered a sense of community but also highlighted the importance of staying active and engaged at any age.
