As counting progresses in the Assam elections, early trends indicate that Himanta Biswa Sarma, the incumbent Chief Minister from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is leading in the Jalukbari constituency. According to the Election Commission, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is ahead in 48 seats, while the Congress party is leading in 11 constituencies. The trends are based on results from 63 out of 126 constituencies. BJP leaders, including Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia, expressed confidence in Sarma's victory, attributing it to public trust in the party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. Saikia emphasized the BJP's commitment to development in Assam, stating, “We are winning and we have always been saying this.” The BJP is also targeting a strong performance in West Bengal, as indicated by Saikia's comments on the political situation there.
