The Jammu Power Development Department (PDD) has come under scrutiny after a transfer list issued on April 15 mistakenly included the names of two deceased assistant executive engineers (AEEs), Anita Karalia and Pawan Dev Singh. Karalia passed away on December 2, 2022, and Singh on March 26, 2023. The list, which contained 82 names, also transferred six in-charge AEEs to positions that were already filled due to prior internal adjustments made by the Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL). PDD financial commissioner Ashwani Kumar attributed the errors to human oversight and a lack of communication regarding internal staff changes. Kumar stated that while the list will not be rescinded, the department will correct the mistakes where necessary. He emphasized that the discom failed to inform the secretariat about its internal adjustments, which contributed to the confusion. The PDD is responsible for electricity infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, while JPDCL manages electricity distribution in the region.
