Isha Ambani, the billionaire heiress, made a striking appearance at the Met Gala 2026 in a custom saree designed by Gaurav Gupta. The saree, woven with pure gold threads and adorned with hand-painted Pichwai-inspired motifs, took over 1,200 hours to create with the help of more than 25 artisans. Styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania, Isha's outfit reimagines the saree as a living canvas, merging traditional Indian craftsmanship with contemporary fashion. Complementing her saree was a bodice crafted from her mother Nita Ambani's personal jewellery collection, featuring over 200 old mine-cut diamonds and metallic zardozi embroidery. This bodice underscores a legacy of Indian craftsmanship, including a historic sarpech piece from the Nizam's collection. Isha completed her look with a jasmine-inspired hair sculpture, handcrafted by Brooklyn-based artist Sourabh Gupta over 150 hours. The Met Gala's theme, 'Costume Art', encourages guests to explore the relationship between fashion and art, inviting Isha to express her heritage through her stunning ensemble.
