The Delhi High Court has dismissed a review petition from SpiceJet and its Managing Director, Ajay Singh, regarding a ₹144 crore (approximately $17.3 million USD) arbitration dispute with Kalanithi Maran and Kal Airways Pvt Ltd. The court imposed costs of ₹50,000 on SpiceJet and rejected its request to substitute the required monetary deposit with an immovable property in Gurugram, owned by Singh. During the hearing, senior advocates for SpiceJet argued that the airline is facing financial difficulties, and that depositing the full amount would be challenging. They proposed offering the Gurugram property instead, claiming it was free from encumbrances. However, the opposing counsel contended that financial constraints had already been addressed in previous Supreme Court proceedings, which dismissed SpiceJet's challenges. The ongoing dispute stems from an arbitration award favoring Kal Airways and Maran, with the Supreme Court previously upholding the High Court's directive for SpiceJet to deposit the funds. An application to substitute the deposit with property was rejected on March 18, 2026, leading to this review petition.
