The All India Defence Employees Federation (AIDEF) has put forward several proposals to the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) ahead of meetings scheduled for May 13-14, 2024. Key recommendations include a fitment factor of 3.833, which would significantly impact salary structures for all central government employees. AIDEF has also proposed raising the minimum pay for Level 1 employees from ₹18,000 (approximately $220 USD) to ₹69,000 (approximately $830 USD). Additionally, the federation is advocating for a ₹15,000 monthly risk allowance for those in hazardous work environments, such as chemical units and ammunition factories. Other demands include faster promotions for employees and a comprehensive revision of pay structures across various roles, including technicians and clerks. The meetings with the CPC are vital for gathering input from employee unions and labor groups, which will inform future salary and allowance recommendations. The CPC has extended the deadline for submissions to May 31, 2026, allowing stakeholders ample time to present their views.
