Authorities from the Drugs Control Office in Gurgaon, Haryana, India, recently uncovered a counterfeit operation involving the weight loss and diabetes drug Mounjaro. The team identified the fake injections by noting differences in packaging, such as color variations and typographical errors. The counterfeit drugs, worth ₹56 lakh (approximately $67,000 USD), were seized from a vehicle, leading to the arrest of the operation's mastermind, Avi Sharma, and his accomplice, Mujammil Khan. The officers highlighted key discrepancies, including variations in font, clarity of images, and differences in the packaging's storage advisory section. The Gurgaon Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has alerted other states to watch for similar batch numbers associated with the seized products, aiming to prevent the distribution of counterfeit drugs.
