A recruitment drive for clinical assistants at the Aam Aadmi Clinics in Ludhiana, Punjab, turned chaotic on Thursday due to inadequate facilities. Candidates expressed frustration over the lack of seating and drinking water, as many were forced to sit on the ground in the sun while waiting for their interviews. The drive was intended to fill 73 vacancies within the clinic network, which currently operates 111 clinics. However, the unexpected turnout of nearly 175 candidates overwhelmed the organizers, who had anticipated only 80 to 100 applicants. One candidate, Jaspreet Kaur, highlighted the discomfort faced by applicants, stating that proper arrangements were lacking. A doctor involved in the recruitment acknowledged the miscalculation, noting that previous drives had seen much lower attendance. The recruitment is part of a staffing model to ensure that services remain uninterrupted as the network expands to include 30 new clinics, bringing the total to over 140 in Ludhiana.
