The Maharashtra legislative council elections for 10 seats, including one by-election, are set to conclude with all candidates being elected unopposed. This situation arose after the Congress party decided not to contest, following a meeting with senior leaders from the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). NCP candidate Zeeshan Siddique, son of the late Baba Siddique, filed his nomination, while the ruling coalition, comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena, has also refrained from fielding additional candidates. The BJP has nominated six candidates, the Shiv Sena two, and the NCP one, while the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is contesting only one seat with Ambadas Danve as their candidate. Nine of the ten seats are due for elections as sitting members retire on May 13, with the tenth seat vacant due to the resignation of Congress MLC Pradnya Satav, who joined the BJP in December 2022.
