The St. Louis Cardinals have made a roster change by recalling right-handed pitcher Hunter Dobbins from Triple-A Memphis and designating right-hander Matt Pushard for assignment. Dobbins, who had been recovering from a torn ACL sustained while pitching for Boston in July 2025, made one start this season, allowing three runs in 4 1/3 innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates on April 30. In his time at Triple-A Memphis, Dobbins excelled, posting a record of 3-0 with a 3.43 ERA over nine starts. Last season, he also performed well, finishing with a 4-1 record and a 4.13 ERA in 13 appearances, including 11 starts. The Cardinals are looking to strengthen their bullpen, which has seen significant usage recently, having pitched 10 2/3 innings over the last two games. On the other hand, Pushard, who had a 5.14 ERA this season, struggled in his last outing, allowing two runs in 1 2/3 innings. If he goes unclaimed on waivers, the Cardinals will have to return him to the Marlins for a fee of $50,000.
