Balbir Singh Seechewal, a Rajya Sabha MP from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), commented on Raghav Chadha's recent switch to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stating that only Chadha can clarify his reasons for leaving. Chadha, along with six other AAP MPs, resigned last week, prompting strong reactions from AAP leaders who accused him of betrayal. Seechewal mentioned that Chadha had been instrumental in AAP's victory in the 2022 Punjab elections, and despite the resignations, he downplayed concerns about the party's future in Punjab, where AAP holds 92 out of 117 assembly seats. He expressed skepticism about rumors that up to 60 MLAs might also switch to the BJP, asserting that the party's core remains intact. Seechewal also recounted a recent interaction with Chadha, where the latter offered to discuss matters over tea, but he preferred to avoid the canteen atmosphere.
