The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating Exalogic Solutions, a company owned by Veena Vijayan, daughter of former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, in connection with alleged money laundering linked to Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL). The Kerala High Court recently dismissed CMRL's appeal against the ED's probe. CMRL had hired Exalogic for IT consultancy services, paying around ₹3 lakh per month, with Veena receiving an additional ₹5 lakh monthly. In total, CMRL disbursed approximately ₹2.78 crore to Exalogic and Veena. However, a report by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) indicated that no actual work was performed, with employees confirming that communications primarily involved billing and payments. Furthermore, loans from a finance company associated with CMRL were allegedly repaid using CMRL funds, shifting the debt burden from a private company to a public sector unit, resulting in financial losses. The ED's investigation has included searches of properties linked to both Pinarayi Vijayan and Veena. Veena has denied the allegations, asserting that all transactions were legal and transparent. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has condemned the ED's actions as politically motivated.
