The film 'Jana Nayagan', featuring popular actor Vijay, has suffered a loss of ₹70 crore (approximately $8.4 million USD) following its leak online prior to its release. The film's producers, KVN Productions, had signed a contract with Prime Video for ₹120 crore (around $14.5 million USD), which was terminated due to the leak and delays in obtaining necessary clearances from the censor board. The film was leaked on April 9, prompting KVN Productions to initiate legal action against the source of the leak. A freelance editor, Uma Shankar, has been arrested for gaining unauthorized access to the film's footage and distributing it. His anticipatory bail plea has been rejected by the Madras High Court. Following the cancellation of the Prime Video contract, KVN Productions sought a new deal with another OTT platform, which offered only ₹50 crore for the digital rights.
