Nevaeh Russell, a senior at Peshtigo High School, has been voted as the Top Shortstop of 2026 in a fan poll conducted by SI Wisconsin Softball. The poll, which ran from May 19 to May 26, saw Russell secure 40% of the votes, outpacing her closest competitor, Hartford senior Lauren Voss, who received 32%. Russell's impressive performance during the 2025 season helped the Bulldogs achieve a 14-6 overall record and a sixth-place finish in the Packerland Conference, along with a berth in the WIAA Division 3 regional semifinals. Russell, who is also a recruit for the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, was recognized as an all-state honorable mention by the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association. Other nominees in the poll included standout players from various schools, each contributing to their teams' successes in the state. Russell's achievement highlights her skill and dedication in the sport.
