Konkona Sen Sharma, known for her versatile performances in Indian cinema, discussed the challenges women face in obtaining substantial roles in films. In an interview, she noted that while there has been some progress in smaller-budget and OTT films, larger productions still predominantly favor male heroes. She remarked, “If you follow the money, you will see that larger films will inevitably have larger-than-life male heroes.” Despite the limited opportunities, Konkona acknowledged the role of streaming platforms in providing female actors with more complex characters, including female cops and negative roles. However, she pointed out that such roles often go to older women. Currently, Konkona is promoting her new show, 'Welcome to Khoya Mahal,' which she co-created. The series revolves around half-siblings navigating their family's heritage hotel while uncovering its secrets, featuring a talented cast including Aditi Rao Hydari and Aparna Sen.
