In a tragic incident on Saturday morning, four women were killed after a speeding tipper truck ran over them while they were on their way to work under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in Kakinada district, Andhra Pradesh. The deceased have been identified as Vasamsetti Satyavathi (60), Palika Krishnaveni (35), Chittemma (45), and Chelluri Annavaram (45). Two other women, Mattaparthi Aruna Kumari and Palika Nagamani, sustained serious injuries and are currently battling for their lives at the Kakinada Government General Hospital. Following the incident, P Narayana, the state municipal administration and urban development minister, has directed local officials to ensure the injured receive proper medical care. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan expressed his shock and assured that the families of the victims would receive due compensation. He also announced measures to improve road safety, including the installation of speed breakers at pedestrian crossing points.
