During the 79th Himachal Day celebrations in Reckong Peo, Kinnaur district, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced significant initiatives aimed at supporting women and enhancing local infrastructure. Eligible women will receive ₹1,500 monthly under the 'Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi' scheme. The CM also introduced a geothermal energy project to provide central heating to government institutions and households in Reckong Peo. Infrastructure improvements include an ₹8 crore traffic tunnel connecting Taranda village and upgrading Choltu High School to a Senior Secondary School with a CBSE curriculum. Furthermore, Sukhu highlighted the government's efforts to resume border trade with China and promote tourism, which is expected to benefit local economies. Health sector reforms were also announced, including the introduction of robotic surgery in medical colleges and new diagnostic facilities, enhancing healthcare access for residents. The CM emphasized the government's commitment to rural development and improving the lives of citizens through various support initiatives.
