At Qlik Connect 2026, Varun Babbar, vice president and India managing director at Qlik, highlighted that data governance is crucial for establishing trust in AI models. He discussed three primary themes in enterprise AI: the democratization of AI, making it accessible to non-data scientists; conversational analytics, allowing users to interact with data similarly to consumer AI tools; and agentic AI, which autonomously acts on insights. Babbar noted that over 80% of enterprise data is unstructured, which organizations must address to unlock its value. He pointed out that India's enterprise AI market is maturing, focusing more on efficiency rather than broad transformations. The recently enacted Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 introduces compliance measures, emphasizing the need for effective data governance. Qlik's innovations, such as the Discover Agent, aim to streamline the process from insight to action, enhancing operational efficiency. Babbar concluded that organizations with robust data governance frameworks are better positioned to leverage AI effectively.
