Liam Dawson, the 36-year-old cricketer, has officially retired from first-class cricket, ending a remarkable career that spanned 20 seasons. During this time, he took 380 wickets and scored 18 centuries. Dawson's accolades include being named the men's Player of the Year at the Professional Cricketers' Association awards in 2024, as well as winning the Overall Domestic MVP and County Championship Player of the Year. He made a notable return to the England Test team last summer after an eight-year hiatus but has decided to step away from red-ball cricket following limited success in the early part of the 2026 season. Despite his retirement from first-class matches, Dawson will continue to play limited-overs cricket for Hampshire and the Manchester Originals in the Hundred, aiming to extend his white-ball career after participating in the T20 World Cup earlier this year.
