On May 10, a one-hour special self-enumeration drive was conducted in Ranchi, Jharkhand, as part of the first phase of the Census exercise. This digital self-enumeration process, which started on May 1, allows residents to submit their household details online. During the awareness drive, officials at the district collectorate, block offices, and circle offices completed their online self-enumeration between 12 pm and 1 pm. Citizens received assistance at panchayat secretariats and Anganwadi centres throughout the district. Ranchi's Deputy Commissioner and Chief Census Officer, Manjunath Bhajantri, emphasized the initiative's goal of promoting public participation through the official Census portal. The self-enumeration exercise will continue until May 15, followed by housing listing and field operations from May 16 to June 14, where approximately 76,000 enumerators will gather data directly from households. The first phase of the Census will cover 33 questions related to housing conditions and family details. The second phase is scheduled for February 9-28, 2024, focusing on population enumeration and demographic data collection.
