Narges Mohammadi, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate and prominent Iranian women's rights activist, is facing a severe health crisis while imprisoned in Iran. After experiencing a catastrophic deterioration in her health, including episodes of complete loss of consciousness and a suspected heart attack, she was transferred from prison to a hospital. The Norwegian Nobel Committee's chair, Joergen Watne Frydnes, emphasized that her life is now in the hands of Iranian authorities and called for her immediate release to receive necessary medical treatment. Mohammadi, who has been imprisoned for her advocacy against the death penalty and for women's rights, was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in prison earlier this year. Her family and the Narges Mohammadi Foundation have reported that she remains in an unstable condition and requires specialized care. The foundation has urged the Iranian government to drop all charges against her and annul her sentences, emphasizing the direct threat to her life.
