Vedanta's demerger is set for May 1, but due to a market holiday, April 29 is the last day for investors to buy shares to be eligible for the newly formed entities. Each shareholder will receive one share of Vedanta Aluminium Metal, Talwandi Sabo Power, Malco Energy, and Vedanta Iron and Steel for each share held. This restructuring, approved by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in December 2022, aims to provide shareholders with direct stakes in specialized firms rather than a diversified conglomerate. Vedanta shares have fluctuated, falling over 3% in the past week but gaining 14% in the last month, reflecting a market capitalization of over ₹2.90 lakh crore (approximately $35 billion USD). The long-delayed demerger is expected to create significant shareholder value, according to Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal.
