WhatsApp has begun rolling out a new feature in India that allows users to recharge their prepaid mobile numbers directly within the app. This feature, powered by PayU, is being introduced in phases for both Android and iOS users and will soon be available to all. Users can recharge their own numbers or those of friends and family without leaving the app, supporting major telecom providers like Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea. The integration is designed to simplify the recharge process, allowing users to stay connected without switching between multiple applications. Ravi Garg, Director of Business Messaging at Meta India, emphasized the importance of this feature in creating a unified experience within WhatsApp. Users can easily access this service by tapping the ₹ icon on the home screen, selecting 'Mobile Prepaid Recharge', and following a straightforward process to complete their transactions. The recharge is processed instantly, enhancing the convenience for users in India.
