Metro Pacific Water (MPW) has been designated as the interim operator for the water distribution system in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, Philippines. This decision was formalized through an operations and maintenance agreement signed by the local government on May 20, 2023. The agreement aims to appoint a temporary partner to stabilize the province's water distribution, which has faced challenges. Under the initial two-month consultancy arrangement, MPW will conduct a comprehensive technical and operational assessment of the current water system condition. Manuel Pangilinan, the chair, president, and CEO of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), stated that the company is committed to supporting local governments in overcoming critical infrastructure issues affecting communities. He expressed the company's goal to rebuild confidence in the water system of San Jose del Monte. MPW is a subsidiary of MPIC and has also invested in the water sector in Vietnam, highlighting its broader commitment to improving water services in the region.
