Georgia has seen a dramatic increase in cosmetics exports to Russia, with 382.6 metric tons shipped from January to April 2023. This figure surpasses the total exports to Russia over the previous 17 years, which stood at 319.6 metric tons. The surge began in May 2022, with initial shipments of 21.1 metric tons. Notably, exports peaked in January 2023 at 162.3 metric tons. The total value of cosmetics exported to Russia in 2023 has reached approximately $680,900. In contrast, Georgia's total cosmetics exports for the year amounted to 450.6 metric tons, generating $7.6 million in revenue. While Russia accounted for 84.9% of these exports, Georgia also reported significant sales to other countries, including Armenia ($957,100 for 21 metric tons), Hong Kong ($2.4 million for 9.6 metric tons), and Denmark ($684,800 for 1.1 metric tons). This trend indicates a growing market for Georgian cosmetics, particularly in Russia.
