The survey, which included 2,596 Americans, also found that only 34% believe the American Dream remains achievable, while 51% think it once was but is no longer. Generational differences are evident, particularly among younger Americans, as only 51% of those aged 18-29 consider a democratically elected government crucial to national identity. Concerns about the economy and political institutions have contributed to this shift in sentiment. Furthermore, 61% of respondents feel the U.S. has lost its status as a welcoming place for immigrants. The findings coincide with the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, prompting discussions about the nation's values and future direction.
