A training aircraft operated by Redbird Aviation Training Academy crashed near Gojubavi village, Baramati, Maharashtra, shortly after taking off from Baramati airstrip. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has taken over the investigation following the crash at 8:50 AM. Preliminary reports indicate that the aircraft developed a technical malfunction while flying at a low altitude, resulting in a collision with a light pole before landing. Fortunately, the trainee pilot suffered no serious injuries. This incident marks the eighth aviation accident reported at or near Baramati airfield since 2013, averaging nearly one incident every 19 months. The AAIB, an office of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, is responsible for investigating serious incidents involving aircraft over 2,250 kg. The Maharashtra CID is also conducting an inquiry related to an Accidental Death Report registered by Pune Rural Police, as required after accidents involving fatalities.
