West Bengal's Assembly elections have seen an impressive voter turnout of 92.72% across 152 constituencies, marking the highest participation since the 2011 elections that ended 34 years of Left Front rule. This turnout exceeds the 85.55% recorded in 2011 and the 79.8% seen in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The Election Commission of India (ECI) implemented 100% webcasting and an AI-based surveillance system, ensuring a smooth voting process despite challenges. A total of 3.60 crore voters, including approximately 1.75 crore women, participated in the elections. However, the polling was marred by sporadic violence, including attacks on candidates and security personnel in areas like Dakshin Dinajpur and Birbhum. Notable contests include Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari's bid for re-election in Nandigram against former ally Pabitra Kar, and Congress veteran Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury's return to the polls after over three decades in Baharampur.
