The Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) has announced the expansion of its 'Little KITES' IT clubs to include students from Class 5 to 12, broadening access to advanced technical training in Kerala's public education system. Previously limited to Classes 8 to 10, this initiative integrates Upper Primary and Higher Secondary levels into the largest student-led Information and Communication Technology (ICT) network in India. K Anvar Sadath, CEO of KITE, made the announcement at a state-level camp in Kalamassery, Kochi, emphasizing the program's objective to empower students as innovators and problem-solvers. The 'Little KITES' initiative has gained international acclaim for its success in democratizing technology education, including recognition from UNICEF. The ongoing camp features 204 elite students selected from over 78,000 applicants, showcasing projects like 'Robo-Arjun,' an underwater rescue submarine, and 'V-Glove,' which translates sign language into speech. The event also includes sessions with global experts to provide professional guidance to these budding innovators.
