With the monsoon season approaching, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has called for the completion of all flood protection works by setting a strict deadline for officials. During a high-level review meeting, he emphasized the importance of desilting drains and addressing vulnerable points to mitigate flood risks. Mann stated that every officer will be held personally accountable for the execution of these tasks. He highlighted the critical need for cleaning the Gidderpindi Railway Bridge in Ferozepur and the Buddha Nullah in Ludhiana, where ongoing efforts are aimed at reducing pollution and improving water flow. Additionally, Mann directed that the regulator at Simbli be made operational to manage water release effectively and called for technical corrections on the Jalandhar National Highway 44 to prevent obstructions in water flow. These measures are essential to protect residents from potential flooding during the monsoon.
