The Punjab government has enhanced the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana by permitting various medical procedures to be conducted at 550 empanelled private hospitals. This initiative aims to improve access to specialized healthcare, particularly in districts with limited services and high patient loads in government facilities. Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh emphasized that this expansion will alleviate pressure on public hospitals, reduce waiting times, and provide timely care. New procedures include ENT surgeries, general surgeries like appendicectomy, and women's healthcare services such as medical termination of pregnancy beyond 12 weeks. Additionally, the scheme now accommodates individuals living alone, broadening its coverage beyond families. Package rates for these procedures range from ₹2,000 to ₹27,800. Currently, around 65 lakh families are benefiting from the scheme, which covers nearly 2,300 diseases and medical procedures across 824 hospitals.
