The latest National Family Health Survey (NFHS-6) reveals alarming trends in Rajasthan, including a rise in adolescent pregnancies and a decline in vital health indicators. The adolescent pregnancy rate among girls aged 15 to 19 has climbed to 4.7%, up from 3.7% in the previous survey. Additionally, the use of modern contraceptives dropped from 62.1% to 57.1%, while institutional deliveries saw a slight decrease from 94.9% to 94.1%. Notably, births attended by skilled health personnel fell from 95.6% to 94.9%. The survey also highlighted concerning declines in child health metrics, with exclusive breastfeeding rates plummeting from 70.4% to 54.3%. Immunisation rates among children aged 12 to 23 months dropped significantly, with full immunisation coverage falling from 85.3% to 75%. These findings have prompted over 50 civil society groups to call for immediate government intervention to address these critical health issues.
