The Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority’s Fleet Services team has achieved national recognition as the leading public transportation fleet in North America, according to the NAFA Fleet Management Association. This accolade places TheRide among the top 40 public fleets selected from a pool of 100 nominees across the Americas for 2026. A panel of fleet industry experts assessed the nominees based on 12 criteria, including financial management, technology utilization, energy management, and staff development. Troy Lundquist, the manager of Fleet Services, expressed pride in the team’s hard work and commitment to providing safe and reliable transportation. TheRide's ranking at 36th reflects its dedication to operational excellence and community service. The NAFA Fleet Management Association, which boasts over 3,500 member organizations across the Americas, annually recognizes excellence in fleet operations. The recognition also highlights TheRide’s recent initiatives, such as improvements in maintenance processes and tire program studies, building on its previous honorable mention in the competition. Established in 1969, TheRide operates the public transit system for the greater Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti area, serving the community with a focus on sustainability and innovation.
