The Ministry of Jal Shakti is organizing a National Workshop on R&D in Water on Monday at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in Delhi. The event will be inaugurated by Union Jal Shakti Minister Jitendra Singh and other key officials. It aims to strengthen India's water research ecosystem by fostering collaboration among government, industry, and academia. A major highlight will be the launch of the MAHA initiative, which promotes research in critical areas such as water resources management and climate resilience. Additionally, the workshop will introduce the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari platform to enhance community participation in water conservation efforts. The Ministry also plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to leverage satellite technology for water management. Multiple technical sessions will address themes like groundwater management and urban aquifer mapping, while an exhibition will showcase innovative solutions in the water sector. This workshop is expected to provide strategic direction for research-led policymaking and sustainable water management in India.
