The Karnataka government has announced a significant property regularization initiative in Bengaluru, titled 'Bhoo Guarantee – Nanna Khata, Nanna Hakku', which aims to regularize 2.3 million properties. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar highlighted that this campaign will assist property owners in resolving khata-related issues and converting B-Khata properties into A-Khata properties at a reduced fee. The initiative will run for 100 days, starting on May 16, with special camps organized every Saturday at ten Greater Bengaluru Authority centers. Currently, B-Khata owners pay 5% of the property’s guidance value to convert to A-Khata status, but under the new scheme, this fee will be reduced to 2% for applicants during the campaign period, representing a 60% discount. Additionally, the government plans to increase the permissible building violation limit from 5% to 15%, allowing more homeowners to access essential services like electricity and water. The initiative also includes digital mapping of property records to mitigate fraud and a series of development projects aimed at enhancing Bengaluru's infrastructure.
