Air India has announced plans to further reduce flight frequencies for June and July in response to escalating air turbine fuel (ATF) prices and the ongoing crisis in West Asia. The airline clarified that claims of total flight cancellations are false and emphasized reliance on official channels for accurate information. In April and May, Air India had already cut back on long-haul flights, reducing daily flights from Delhi to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) from 10 to 7 and from Mumbai to San Francisco International Airport from 6 to 4. The outgoing CEO, Campbell Wilson, noted that the rise in fuel prices, along with airspace closures, has made many international routes unprofitable. Although the government has limited domestic fuel price increases to 25%, the airline has raised airfares and imposed fuel surcharges, which have negatively impacted customer demand. Wilson expressed regret over the disruptions caused to customers and crew schedules and hopes for a resolution in the Middle East situation to restore normal operations.
