A 26-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday in Gokalpuri, Delhi, for allegedly throwing acid on her 21-year-old neighbor, just days before the victim's wedding scheduled for April 19. The victim, who suffered severe facial burns and is experiencing vision problems, was admitted to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital. According to police, the attack occurred when the accused visited the victim's home under the guise of friendship. After spending time with the family, she allegedly threw acid on the victim while she was applying henna on her hands. The accused reportedly had a prior relationship with the victim's fiancé and could not accept his upcoming marriage. Police are investigating the incident, having registered a case under Section 124(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to causing grievous hurt by acid. The accused's sister mentioned that she has been undergoing treatment for depression and has shown uncontrollable anger in the past.
