In Kanpur, police exhumed the body of Nisha Kausar, a 41-year-old woman, following allegations from her family that she was murdered by her husband, Intezar Ahmad. Nisha's mother, Shakila, reported that her granddaughter claimed to have witnessed her father beat Nisha and subsequently electrocute her. Shakila accused Intezar of harassing Nisha since their marriage 19 years ago. The incident allegedly occurred on May 26, when Intezar informed the family that Nisha had died from an electric shock from a faulty fridge. Nisha was buried the next day in Bakarmandi graveyard. The police are now conducting a postmortem to determine the exact cause of death, with further actions pending the results. Inspector Mohd. Mateen Khan stated that the exhumation was carried out with videography to ensure transparency in the investigation. Shakila has reached out to local authorities demanding justice for her daughter.
