As the summer vacation and weekend rush lead to a significant rise in tourist traffic to Mussoorie from Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), Dehradun Police has implemented a new traffic management plan to alleviate congestion on the Dehradun-Mussoorie route. This plan is a response to the recurring heavy traffic conditions observed over the past few weekends, exacerbated by the ongoing Char Dham Yatra. The police have divided the area into four super zones, 10 zones, and 19 sectors, with personnel deployed at major intersections and junctions to oversee traffic flow. Circle Officer (Traffic) Ankit Kandari emphasized the importance of designated parking areas and urged tourists to adhere to prescribed routes. Additionally, the traffic management strategy incorporates advanced technologies such as drones and CCTV surveillance to monitor traffic in real-time, allowing for immediate alerts to local police units regarding congestion. This initiative aims to enhance the travel experience for tourists while ensuring safety and order on the roads during peak tourist seasons.
