A delegation of Hindi film producers met with Ashish Shelar, Maharashtra's Cultural Affairs Minister, to advocate for subsidies and policy reforms to enhance film shooting in Mumbai and Maharashtra. Producers highlighted that states like Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh offer competitive film policies that benefit local shoots. In response, Shelar announced the formation of a three-member expert committee to evaluate existing policies and incentives in other states and international film locations, with a report due in three months. The government is also planning to develop a film production facility on 100 acres near Malad and improve the single-window clearance system for shooting permissions. Producers are pushing for equal subsidies for Hindi films, similar to those available for Marathi films, and have suggested creating a centralized online portal for shooting locations across Maharashtra. This initiative aims to streamline the process for filmmakers and attract more productions to the state.
